Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hard-working Utility Designer with GIS experience to join our team. The Utility Designer will play a crucial role in mapping, updating, and maintaining gas and electrical utility infrastructure using various software systems and platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for utility design, cost estimates, accurate data representation, performing quality assurance checks.
Responsibilities:
- Work with other utility designers to design new electric and gas services for customers. Work with both Bluebeam and GIS software to develop prints and costs for each project.
- Map, update, and maintain electric and gas utility infrastructure using ESRI ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
- Complete field review, analysis, and verification of field information for accurate representation of utility infrastructure within GIS software.
- Perform data entry to maintain client records and service histories.
- Utilize GIS software for production, editing, data management, and spatial analytics.
- Collaborate with various teams to map electrical and gas facilities for a range of projects and clients.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes.
- Conduct data analysis and entry to maintain accurate service records.
- Support GIS workload to make sure productivity and goals are met effectively.
- Collaborate with other design professionals and technicians to share knowledge and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, or a related field
- GIS certificate is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional utility design and GIS work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer mapping and a solid understanding of basic design processes and inputs within ArcGIS.
- Proficiency in using Bluebeam, ESRI ArcMap, and ArcGIS Pro.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret and represent complex data sets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within cross-functional teams and customers.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
