Kapur is seeking a highly skilled Senior Utility Construction Coordinator to join our team. In this position, you will coordinate, and review construction activities related to utility adjustments, relocations, and new installations that may be needed in conjunction with transportation and municipality projects. You will oversee multiple utility coordination projects and coordinate with project designers, construction contractors, municipalities, and Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the local utility representative in the field during construction, coordinating all activities related to utility construction, relocation, or conflicts with utility facilities.
- Lead or facilitate meetings involving utility construction, including attendance at all preconstruction meetings.
- Ensure WisDOT and municipal requirements for utility coordination, utility certification, and traffic control are met.
- Coordinate and track utility submittals and responses.
- Review design plans and prepare utility conflict analysis.
- Review Utility Work Plans and recommend for approval.
- Prepare and review cost estimates, schedules, prior rights determinations, and agreements for relocation.
- Full client engagement: interpersonal and client facing responsibilities include excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings and resources.
- Work directly with designers to ensure that utility facilities are being installed per plan on municipal and WisDOT projects.
Qualifications:

- Thorough understanding of WisDOT’s Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards.
- Ability to learn electric and gas systems and their components.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Fieldwork and site visits required.
- Ability to work within both Kapur Madison office and client office in downtown Madison.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience in utility coordination, construction management, or related fields.
- Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with utility coordination on WisDOT or municipality projects.
- Knowledge of electrical and gas systems and their components.
- Understanding environmental implications of construction projects.
- Knowledge of Buy America requirements.
