Location

Client
City of Greenfield
Accommodating bike, foot, and car traffic while ensuring smooth travel.

This project included approximately 1,350 feet of concrete roadway replacement in the City of Greenfield, including the spot repair of existing concrete curb and gutter and concrete sidewalk. It also included rehabilitating sewer structures, new ADA-compliant curb ramps, a traffic detour, and pavement marking plans.

Kapur completed the design and construction management of the roadway project. The design included performing a condition assessment of the existing storm sewer system and determining repairs as necessary to be performed as part of the project. Kapur also reviewed the existing condition of the concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk for spot repairs to be completed in conjunction with the pavement replacement.

As part of the project, Kapur coordinated with WisDOT staff relating to the proposed improvements near W. Forest Home Ave (STH 24). Kapur’s proposed design needed to align with future proposed WisDOT intersection improvements. Design considerations were made throughout the project to minimize the amount of temporary facilities and work completed to maximize the cost savings for both Greenfield and WisDOT.

The Powerline Trail, a city-wide bike trail, was within the project limits. Additional design and construction phasing considerations were made to accommodate a proposed bike/pedestrian detour as well as a traffic detour, and considerations were made during construction to accommodate the school schedule.
