The students were happy with their upgraded facilities. The administration was happy everything was on time and under budget. The Kapur team was happy to help.

Having been wowed once before by Kapur’s site design services, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School selected Kapur to provide environmental consulting for redeveloping a former grocery store and associated parking lot into a new school building and athletic facility for the 2020-2021 school year.

The proposed location included several leaking underground storage tank areas and Environmental Repair Program activities, where contaminated soils had been identified.

To characterize the potential contaminants, Kapur conducted:

  • subsurface soil profiling
  • an NR 718.15 exemption request
  • a material management plan for approximately 1,500 cubic yards of soil
  • raising the site grade to reduce the impact of exiting soils
  • capping of reused soils under an impervious layer of material
  • removal of three areas of petroleum-contaminated soils for disposal at a licensed landfill, eliminating the need for vapor sampling and mitigation

Kapur also significantly lowered the cost from its initial estimates through:

  • on-site management of soil
  • off-site disposal of contaminated soil
  • the elimination of the need for vapor sampling and mitigation
Services
  • Manifest generation
  • NR 718.15 exemption request
  • Soil excavation & relocation monitoring
  • Soil sample collection & preparation for laboratory analysis
  • Subsurface soil profiling
  • Tabulation & analysis of analytical results
