Located in Waunakee’s gorgeous northwestern corridor, Golden Ponds Subdivision was built to provide future residents the private yard and peaceful views of nature they’ve always dreamed of. But even with the appeal of country living, developers needed to incorporate some urban amenities into its design–including high-speed internet.
Kapur designed a new fiber optic network for the subdivision’s 80 single-dwelling unit parcels, basing calculations and layout on proposed mapping and gathered footage from neighborhood schematics. Kapur’s fiber optic design team utilized ESRI ArcMapPro, ESRI ArcMap Online, and Bluebeam to create an efficient layout meeting the specifications that TDS Telecom required.
A geodatabase was additionally constructed to ease the drafting needs and further streamline the process, involving mixed usage of distributed split fiber taps and optical fiber taps.
The GIS tools will further advance the ability to map out telecommunication systems faster and more efficiently.
