It wasn’t just a dam – to the Village of Menomonee Falls; it was a community asset.
And to Kapur, it wasn’t just about preserving the historic structure – it was also about making it better.
Collaborating with the WDNR, Kapur developed an Operation and Maintenance Plan and an Emergency Action Plan and inspected the dam’s more significant structural components, including:
Allowing a contractor to make the corresponding recommended improvements with minimal impacts to the community, Kapur also capitalized on the opportunity to improve water quantity and quality in the dam’s impounded Mill Pond through sediment sampling, providing engineering plans, and obtaining the necessary WDNR and US Army Corps of Engineers permits to remove sediment buildup behind the dam.
This work was all done during the winter months to help:
The complicated project required regular communication with all project stakeholders, who benefitted not just from Kapur meeting and exceeding project deadlines and budget but also from finally receiving the long-term solutions needed to maintain the integrity of their prized dam structure.
