Kapur was contracted by the Milwaukee County Transit System to perform environmental services at the Fond du Lac Avenue Garage vehicle service center in Milwaukee.
Our staff performed a variety of tasks including:
- Tank System Removal: Monitored tank system removal activities including field data collection and photographic logging of the UST and subsurface soils condition.
- Tank System Site Assessment (TSSA): Completed TSSA activities including the collection the appropriate number of soil samples and submittal of samples to State Certified laboratory for analysis, logging of field observations and findings, and filing of required site assessment forms with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR).
- Site Investigation: Completed the installation of four soil borings to a maximum depth of 20 feet below ground surface (bgs) to determine the extent of contamination associated with the release from the former UST system. Converted all four borings to NR 141 groundwater monitoring wells. Conducted four quarterly grounds of groundwater monitoring.
- Free Product Abatement: Installed a recovery sump within the cavity of the former waste oil tank and oversaw the removal of product by Veolia ES Industrial Services. Removed approximately 400 gallons of oil/water mix and 9.2 gallons of waste oil free product.
- Case Closure: Submitted site investigation findings including soil, groundwater, and free product abatement results to the WDNR and Milwaukee County. Prepared and submitted a WDNR Form 4400-202 Case Closure-GIS Registry Report. Closure was approved by the WDNR.
- Completed an additional tank system removal/TSSA and received closure from the WDNR with no action required.
