A WisDOT Excellence in Design Award winner.

The Robert Street bridge, located in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, is a heavily traveled bridge that was in need of repairs. The bridge received a full deck replacement, safety upgrades, and enhanced aesthetics. A dedicated northbound left-turn lane was added, along with upgraded street lighting and an added parapet wall separating the sidewalk from traffic.

Preliminary design recommended replacing the concrete deck, sidewalks and parapets, fiber reinforcing the prestressed girders, replacing all the expansion bearings, and surface repair to all the piers and abutments. These enhancements will extend the structural life and reduce maintenance.

This project won the WisDOT Excellence in Design award for structure by a consultant in the Southwest Region.
