Kapur was retained by the Village of Mount Pleasant in 2018 to perform a Pre-Demolition Property Assessment for 50 parcels. The assessment included an asbestos inspection, lead-based paint survey, and a hazardous waste inventory consisting of identifying and sampling of potential friable and non-friable asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), lead-based paint (LBP), and potentially hazardous waste materials (HWMs).
Any underground storage tanks (USTs) or aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) identified on properties along the project corridor were closed by removal. During tank removals, tanks and any piping associated with the tank system were inspected. The tank cavities that appeared to be compromised were inspected for contamination. Remedial excavations were completed in the vicinity of any leaking tanks/piping. Confirmation soil samples were collected to determine the degree of any potential residual contamination. Kapur is currently working on completing a Site Investigation Report for a property that contained a leaking UST and AST.
Kapur completed a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) in 2021 for a property transfer from the Village of Mount Pleasant to Foxconn.
