Built in 1962, this six-lane urban freeway section of WIS 175 was to be part of a larger freeway network that never materialized. Now, with the resulting recessed freeway creating a disconnect between 20 neighborhoods between Burleigh Avenue and National Avenue and 35th Street to 60th Street, as well as access for pedestrian, bike, and bus traffic, the Reimagining WIS 175 Study is evaluating how the corridor between Wisconsin Avenue and Lisbon Avenue is being used and how it can better serve the area in the future.
Through consistent community outreach, neighborhood events, and public involvement meetings, Kapur and the study team will garner data and opinions from community members and residents to understand better alternatives that will suit the study area and its inhabitants best.
Kapur is providing public involvement services such as community outreach and research, public involvement meeting coordination, Spanish translation and interpretation, and regular collaboration with the WisDOT project team alongside GRAEF, Prism Technical Management & Marketing Services LLC, and Executive Strategies Elite.
