Determined to be structurally deficient, Kapur began working with the City of Wauwatosa and WisDOT toward replacing this historic structure over Honey Creek. Because of major changes to the bridge and waterway, a comprehensive public involvement plan was developed to make stakeholders aware of all design and preconstruction activities, the construction schedule and stages, and all impacts on the project.
Over the course of two public involvement meetings (PIM), an operational planning meeting with the City and WisDOT, several local officials meetings, as well as local outreach efforts with special interest groups and neighborhoods, Kapur staff had both schedule driven deliverables and meetings as requested by residents and businesses. Each of these meetings has a different purpose, ranging from technical discussion in the operation planning meeting, to informative meetings with feedback like the local officials meeting, to large public involvement meetings.
During the PIM's both concerns and comments were gathered and subsequently addressed.
